the princess conquered.

i came with no high excpectations what so ever, clearing my head from all the reviews i read and all the grapevines i heard about the show. but in the end, sorry, i just found myself witnessing a serious blockbuster perfection.

i gave a spontaneous standing ovation and a thundering applause. hell, everybody did. why don't they when they were served with a superb performance that comes with great music together with an outstanding storyline?

it's a great legendary love story celebrated, recounted, fabled & told throughout the ages. puteri gunung ledang the musical is one hell of a phenomenon that everyone, shouldn't be missing.

the music, led by roslan aziz, is capturing and mesmerising. tiara jacquelina as the gusti putri (of course) and stephen rahman hughes playing hang tuah did a very marvellous acting as well as singing, along with the great performances by adlin aman ramlie as the sultan, ac mizal as gusti adipati and the rest of the casts.

the music is refreshing, i tell you. the song i like personally, is the song when the sultan celebrates the joy he felt after he sent hang tuah to lead a delegation to gunung ledang, to ask gusti putri for her hand in marriage. that, is one hell of a funky and spicy song that fits very well in a show like this. also, the songs played during the setting is in melaka, well, is very entertaining too. the music combines many elements, from traditional to modern, even a bit of rock and pop, which equals to divine entertainment. full mark for the music team.

the props and the costumes were splendid. the lighting, oh hell, this is istana budaya anyway. so it was anything world class and mesmerising and these all did a really, really great job in setting the mood. oh say no more.

you've heard it, everybody who went and watched talks about it. the second time it is held, pglm really did a brilliant performance, not to say awe-inspiring. it's an achievement. sadly tomorrow it will set down its last show, before god-knows when it'll ever be performed again.


well, until the next time it'll arrive in town, this is one show that'll accelerate you to a breathless performing arts experience, taking you to a magical journey to the past and celebrate romance and love in a very extraordinary way. a perfect ten over ten. kudos to the team!

almost forgot, i met sha and aqila there. bought a cd containing some remixes from the musical, but it's not a complete soundtrack. I WANT the complete soundtrack! ayah: "reaaallyy worth the ringgit spent." hehe.
