It's Up To You

It will be a long time until the next break comes in. Until everybody sees each other again during mid year, some changes are already preparing to take place. Mall refurnishing itself drastically. Bus ticket prices are going to soar. A recession coming into the picture. Houses under renovations. Weddings to prepare. Events to attend. Friends flying off. More people missing in action.

More and more of us are hitting the bell and leaving the teenage years behind. With this coming into realisation, a portion of rationality is taken into consideration, about our lives and the tremendous things that will happen later. Slowly plans are made, with edgy seriousness. Some are independent enough to decide for themselves. Others just follow the lead -- which concludes the most of us.

Then again, this is the society of expectations, this side of Shah Alam. You can't let your parents lose out in their conversations with their friends. And when there's an err, it's to be hushed, toned down in talks and hidden in words. So it's either you achieve, or leave. But of course, our parent's happiness is God's too. Once said, point taken there.

Outside our realm of comfort, I've seen lots of attempts of social climbing. Both here and overseas. People trying to talk big, forever so struggling to boast whatever they have. In other words, culture shocked. So with too much struggle, it's obvious that they're not really catching up to the pace. With pity, I usually see these kind of people fall down even before they even actually do in real life.

I have to keep up with these kind of people whether I like it or not. It'll hurt if I say anything, anyway. And for the upcoming months until the break commences, bear this: the truth hurts.

God said so.
